Hi friends! Today, we’re celebrating Day #23 of BLOGMAS!
Before we get into today’s post, I have a Christmas shopping update: We’ve finally added a few Christmas presents to the tree! {WHEW!!} Just 2 days shy of Christmas and we finally made some progress. 😉 We still have a few people on our list to shop for, but I’m just glad we’re getting somewhere.

I spent the rest of the day behind my computer knocking out as much work as possible to get ready for a few days off to celebrate. On days like today, I’m extra thankful for my blue light glasses that keep me from getting a headache from too much screen time. All in all, I’m so thankful to be able to do what I do for work all from the comfort of our cozy couch in front of the fireplace alongside my furry co-workers as I type the day away.
I loved doing the fun Christmas Tags Q&A earlier this week and came across one more to add to the BLOGMAS fun! Since we’re quickly coming to the end of December, let’s do 20 Questions for 2020!
Here we go!
- What was the single best thing that happened this past year? Woof. That’s a tough one. But, I’d say ultimately finding my footing in my career doing what I love (social media marketing + content creation) has been the highlight of my year.
- What was the single most challenging thing that happened? Well, the single most challenging thing would be facing the unknowns of what on earth this pandemic even was at the beginning of March. I remember grocery shopping around the 20th of March and it was a complete and total mad house in there. Everyone was panicked and the food on the shelves was flying off faster than you could grab it. I really hope those days are close to behind us now…
- What was an unexpected joy this past year? Okay, I love this question. An unexpected joy this past year has to be finding my mom’s cute little dog, Henry! He’s just the perfect addition to our family and it makes me feel so much better knowing he’s keeping her company when we’re not together.
- What was an unexpected obstacle? I lost a major portion of my job earlier this year due to COVID. It was completely unexpected but I was able to turn things around and make a serious pivot for the better. Isn’t it crazy how God turns things into good, even when we can’t see them that way when it’s happening?
- Pick three words to describe this past year. Honestly? I’d have to say — Transformative. Surreal. Chaotic. While it wasn’t ALL bad…it just felt so very heavy.
- Pick three words your partner or close friend would use to describe your year. Same as #5 🙂
- Pick three words your partner or close friend would use to describe their year. Exhausting. Frustrating. Slow.
- What were the best books you read this year? Ohhh, Little Fires Everywhere was an amazing book. TV show–not so much.
- Who were your most valuable relationships with? Mine and Nick’s family. Oh, and some REALLY amazing clients I’ve been able to work with!
- What was your biggest personal change from January to December of this past year? More confidence in my work. I grew a lot in it over the past 12 months, despite the chaos.
- In what way(s) did you grow emotionally? I think I learned a lot about my mental strength this year. I’ve really tried to focus on ways to work around self-limiting beliefs that have held me back from a lot in life. I’m not all the way there yet, but at least I’m closer than I was before.
- In what way(s) did you grow spiritually? I’ve most definitely grown in my faith and learning to trust more than ever before.
- In what way(s) did you grow physically? I learned to love the spin bike because of the One Peloton app! Although, it’s been a few weeks since our last gym venture. But, that’ll change soon now that we’re past the move.
- In what way(s) did you grow in your relationships with others? I think I grew closer to others in the fact that we were ALL in this situation of the year, together. We were all facing unknowns. We were all facing challenges. We were all looking to each other for strength to get through it all. Most of all, this Christmas season, I’ve seen that we’re all still chasing little sparks of joy and finding happiness in the traditions of the holiday season. It’s made me so happy to see people hanging their twinkly lights and decorating their trees and spreading Christmas cheer. It’s just a much needed reminder that we’re all still here, doing life together and getting through each day one moment at a time.
- What was the most enjoyable part of your work (both professionally and at home)? Well, I work from home 😉 but–the most enjoyable part was being able to feel like I didn’t skip a beat when this pandemic hit because I was still able to do everything I do for work no matter where I was, as long as there was wifi. But, now I’m glad that more people understand why working from home isn’t so bad!
- What was the most challenging part of your work (both professionally and at home)? Unexpected job loss due to the pandemic. It was tough but I made it through stronger than before!
- What was your single biggest time waster in your life this past year? Watching the news and getting sucked into the negativity of it all. It was hard to peel yourself away there for a while because it was like a train wreck you couldn’t look away from! But, I quickly learned that’s NOT good for your mental health.
- What was the best way you used your time this past year? Getting outside as much as possible. Things felt more “normal” when we got to step outside and get lost in the trees for long walks.
- What was biggest thing you learned this past year? That no matter how much control we “think” we have, it’s all out of our hands.
- Create a phrase or statement that describes this past year for you. I have 2–Go with the flow + This too shall pass.
Okay, that was so fun to do and really made me think back on this year! Now, it’s your turn!
