Hi friends! How’s your week going? I’m crossing all of my fingers and toes that you’re having a fabulous week so far! My week has been filled with work, sunny afternoons spent outside and ALL of the Boston Marathon things.
I’m obsessed with the Boston Marathon!! I can’t get enough! Anyone else? I know for a fact, I’m not alone in that statement. Now–I should state that I did not personally run the Boston Marathon. I haven’t even ever come close to it, for that matter. But, that doesn’t stop me from watching, re-watching, and living vicariously through all of the posts, videos and articles about anything & everything Boston Marathon weekend! I’m so inspired by all of the stories with these world marathons, but there’s just something extra special about Boston. It’s such a huge event, but seems to have so much more heart to it than any other “big” marathon race! I literally cheered from my desk in the office the other day as I watched Desi cross that finish line! I feel like I know her personally or something after following her story for SO LONG!!! I felt like a proud mom or something with tears and chills the entire time she was kicking everyone’s butt at the end. It was AMAZING to watch!! I’ve probably said this before, but it’s worth saying again–If you’re struggling with motivation for running/living your best life–WATCH A RACE!! Go to it, watch it on TV, YouTube it–do whatever you can to get it in your brain. It makes ALL the difference! At least, I know it works for me, every-single-time. I may not be the fastest runner in the history of America, but watching runners like Desi chase after her dreams sure lights a fire under me to get going! Gahhh, I’m just so excited for her…
I’m also insanely inspired by every single runner that got out there on Monday to battle that insane rain storm to knock out 26.2 miles. I can’t even imagine the pain, the cold, and the pure determination they were fighting with to get to the finish line. Consider this my virtual high five and hug for all of you for dominating race day like a serious champ! You’re all winners in my eyes!!
Okay, okay–I’ll get off my Boston ramblings for now– but I could go on forever, really.
So, you guys–I’ve jumped on the convenience bandwagon. No, no, no–not the fast food convenience band wagon-although there has been some of that too off and on the past few months. But, that’s not the bandwagon I’m talking about today. I am all about fast and convenient meals lately! Just like this all-in-one chicken Parmesan meal from Whole Foods! They come in ready to bake foil pans that you just toss into the oven, and that’s it! Dinner is served! My 3 favorite words! 😉 It’s been super tough to try and tackle a meal prep plan so far in my full-time work journey but I’m slowly but surely finding ways to sneak in plans for whole foods, without a huge recipe and meal prep involved. I feel like after 5PM I need to squeeze in SO much, so these types of dinners are just perfect for us! Then, we even have enough for leftovers, which is even better! This pan was about $20 and could probably feed 4!
Next meal on the convenience bandwagon–ALL the smoothies! I’ve been a huge fan of smoothies for a while now–but even more so now! Breakfast can be ready within minutes and I’m more than okay with that! Plus, it makes it even easier to get in an extra dose of greens! I like to toss in a handful of spinach to my smoothies and you don’t even know it’s there. Sneaky, sneaky! (Yes, I have to play mind games with myself and greens–don’t judge!)
But, really–Nick sure knows the way to my heart over any of the smoothies and pasta dinners. Chick-Fil-A chocolate chip cookies are the ultimate way to my heart. I have to keep a good balance after all those veggies and smoothies, ya know? 😉
Our nightly walk routine is still on repeat. Running just hasn’t been on my radar very much lately! That’s why my above mentioned motivation with the Boston Marathon hit me just at the right time! Here’s hoping I can find a good routine to get back into with it. For now, walking, yoga, and cross-training has been my jam. But, running will ALWAYS be the biggest piece of my heart. I tend to go through those slumps every so often, so it’s nothing new for me. But, it sure is hard to kick sometimes. I still have those spring races on my radar, I just need to get going with them–like yesterday. 😉 I try not to stress too much when I go through these slumps, because at the end of the day–I know running will ALWAYS be there when I come back. Plus, I know I’m juggling quite a bit right now and if slowing things down and changing things up a bit is what I have to do right now–then I’ll have to do just that. Life goes on and I’m just going with the flow, that’s for sure!
I still bring along my favorite SPIbelt for ALL the outside fun! Seriously, if you haven’t tried one of these–let me know!! I can’t imagine NOT having one now with me at all times for my outside workouts!
In totally random news–I just have to share this because I feel like I would be committing a crime by not sharing with the world. THIS SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER IS THE BEST!!! I am always on the hunt for something to tame this wild mane of mine (Hello, naturally curly hair!) and this has done the trick! My mom actually got it the other day and told me she had to get an extra set for me because it was THAT good! Boy, was she right?! The smell is heavenly–which wins big points in my book anyways-BUT the ingredients is what totally sold me! She got it at Walgreens, but said they also sell it at Wax-Mart too! If you need me from here on out, I’ll be bathing in this stuff and sniffing my coconut scented hair all the day long! 😉 Go getcha’ some ASAP! (If you’re in the market for new shampoo and conditioner, that is!)
Seriously–Impressive right?
Before I let you go–I just wanted to share some food for thought. Literally–food—See what I did there? 😉 (#sorryforthecornydadjokes)
Oh, and Joey wanted to pop in and say a quick hello too! He’s doing great, and said thanks for asking! 🙂 Cooper didn’t really care, so….there’s that. He was too busy eating grass and sniffing all the things, per the usual.
Have a fantastic Wednesday you guys!!! Soak up all the sunshine and good things, today, mmmk?
