Happy Friday to you! I hope your week has been great in every way! Ever had one of those weeks where everything seems to go up in flames all at the same time? That’s been the name of the game for me lately, so I’ve just decided to embrace it. If everything was the same all the time, life would get pretty boring….right? Right. That’s what I’m just going to keep telling myself in the meantime.
Today I thought I’d share a few of my favorite things lately. These are all totally random, but also totally worth sharing in my book.
First things first, I AM SO EXCITED to have FINALLY jumped on the food processor train! Seriously, how could I have waited THIS long and not have had one? I feel like I never should’ve been able took cook ANYTHING without it! It’s life changing and wonderful in every possible way. Even when it shakes like crazy because of frozen bananas and shoots things out at me when I forget to add the little top lid–I still don’t hate it. I told Nick I’m in love…..with my food processor! 😉 He actually bought it for me as an early birthday present, but I like to think it’s more of a gift for both of us. Let’s be real, he knew what the perks were of this little kitchen tool so he put a shiny birthday gift title on it to sound a little sweeter! ha! 🙂 Kidding, but we’re both pretty excited about all of the recipes that will come from this purchase. Worth every penny, no doubt about it.
*Sidenote, we initially bought the Kitchenaid brand processor but it wouldn’t turn on when we plugged it in. So back it went and we got this one that had 5 star customer ratings. It has been fabulous so far in my opinion.
I’ve been sending snail mail like a crazy lately. Anyone else obsessed like me? It’s just so sad in the world we live in these days that we don’t use actual physical mail much anymore (besides bills..blah). When everything is through email, text, computer screen, blah.. blah.. blah…I’m over here loving good old fashioned pen and paper. I even sent my 9 year old niece a card asking her to be my pen pal for her 4th grade school year. I’m probably way more excited about it than she is. #nerdalert. (or) #grandmaalert (maybe both?)—No shame either way.
OPRAHHHHH!!!! Need I say more? I found out about Oprah’s podcasts through another blog I read, Hungry Runner Girl and knew I had to listen in. I’m a total podcast addict and this one has now made my favorites list. She has some amazing guests that I absolutely LOVE and can’t wait to listen to every single one of her episodes. I’m 3 in so far, so I still have quite a few left to go, thank goodness. I always get a little sad when I realize I have no new ones to tune into. #firstworldproblems
Another one of my favorite things lately is definitely our new backsplash for the house. It’s so classic but very unique and I cannot wait to see it up in the kitchen. It’s going to be the perfect touch for an already gorgeous kitchen renovation! I can’t wait to share the final product with you guys.
Don’t worry if you see me in a future post with a shade of red here soon. I’ve been consuming so many tomatoes lately because they’re just SO delicious!! Add a little sprinkle of salt and pepper and WABAMMM, perfect snack. These little slicer tomatoes have been in my CSA boxes lately and man, they’re good! So juicy, red and sweet! Yum, yum!! Keep your eye out for these guys making their appearance in next week’s Chewsday Tuesday post!
I’m pretty positive we’re addicted to bananas. I can’t quite say with 100% confidence, but I’m pretty sure we knocked out 2 of these bundles in a matter of days. Mostly they’ve gone to many “nice cream” recipes the past few nights, but seriously we eat bananas like they’re going out of style. Spotty bananas, that is. They’re the best ones to get and we buy up as many as we can when we see them at the store. Yep, crazy banana couple–that’s us!
Roasted veggies have my heart. Favorite combination lately: roasted sweet potatoes, golden potatoes and broccoli. Sprinkle on a little salt & pepper, garlic and onion powder and drizzle some EVOO and they’re good to go! In the oven at 400 for about 20ish minutes and dinner side is ready! (or snack!)
Park dates with these cuties have been extra fun lately. Cooper has been extra well behaved lately there which is out of the norm for his escapee-like heart. For some reason he’s ALWAYS been that dog that can’t go anywhere without a leash. It’s like he hates us or something because anytime he has the opportunity to run away from us-he’s gone. He’s also surprisingly fast and is such a people dog, so put those combos together and it’s no bueno. BUT, here lately, he’s been able to go with us and hang out and run around, ya know like a normal dog? Yeah, maybe he’s just maturing–who knows but I love it and fully appreciate it more than he knows. He’s nuts if he thinks he’d survive out in the “real” world without his mom and dad. Crazy pup would come crawling back to us because of how spoiled rotten he is.
Joey’s favorite thing everyday–his ball. Always and forever his #1.
Happy Fri-YAY friends! Enjoy your weekend and make sure to do something extra fun!!
We’ll catch up again soon!
