Happy first Tuesday of February!
Do you guys remember last year, (before the apocalypse happened) where January felt like it was 238474 days long? We were all jumping for joy that we made it to February in 2020. Now, looking back, we really had no idea what we had coming in the next few weeks.
Anyways, that was a fun flashback. 😉
I hope you’re having the best week so far. I’m so jealous of everyone getting tons of snow this week. Arkansas just hasn’t jumped on that bandwagon yet. We DO have a chance next week and you better believe I’ll be doing all the snow dances a girl can do to make it happen.
I’m so excited to report that I’m BACK to running! I took a mini hiatus with it over the past little while because, I just wasn’t feeling it. We hadn’t been to the gym in what feels like FOREVER because of the virus and everything. But, last week we literally hit the ground running to get back into a routine.

I’ve been loving the Peloton app workouts for cardio/strength and ab work! It’s a total game changer to keep from getting bored on the treadmill. Once it gets a teeny bit warmer here I’ll definitely be hitting to road more and less treadmill. I’m a fair weather runner (I’m from the south so cut me some slack ;)) so when it’s just too freezing to feel my toes, I’m happy to hop on the treadmill for my workouts. So far, Rebecca Kennedy’s 90’s class has been my favorite to do date for running classes. The music was just too good. (#90sbaby)

As soon as we get done at the gym, we always head to the grocery store to pick up a recovery drink or snack. Somehow these always make it in my basket. I’m forever missing my favorite Blueberry Cherry flavor, but this does the trick.

We’ve been having the best breakfast dates lately too at our favorite local spot, Hillcrest Little Bakery. Their pancakes are huge and I always forget I need to stick to 1 instead of 2 because they’re so big and I can’t ever finish them.

Cooper is more of a fan of the Whole Foods vegan donuts though. 😉 (Only his dreams…) haha! These little donuts are my favorite of all favorite sweet treats. I used to NOT be a big fan of cake donuts but somehow these have won me over. I don’t think I can ever go back to normal donuts now.

We went on our first hike of the year the other day! We tried out a new trail and ended up getting a teeny tiny bit lost, but not too too far off track. Thank goodness for GPS. We ended up with almost 4 miles at the end which made for a pretty good workout! Getting outside makes all the difference for me, especially this time of year.
Pupper Update: We are so glad to report that little Joey is on the mend. We had a rough weekend a few weekends ago and weren’t sure if he was going to make it through. Somehow he got a really bad eye infection and fell down all in the same weekend. Because he was such an active pup in his younger years his legs just aren’t near as strong as they used to be so we try our best to keep him from slipping around on our floors. But, at some point in the middle of the night he fell out of his bed and hurt his little front leg. So, between the irritated eye and the injured leg, he was in rough shape. We finally got him feeling better with an antibiotic, some pain meds, lots of time on the heating pad and plenty of snuggles and he’s made a good little comeback. We know they’re both in their older years (Joey is 18 years OLD! and Cooper turns 13 this month) but I just hope they can hang on for a little while longer. It REALLY breaks my heart thinking about something happening to either one. I know they can’t live forever but I sure wish they could. The good news is Joey is feeling better and I know Cooper is happy about that too. 🙂

Cooper is back on paw patrol. He has been thoroughly enjoying our new full glass storm door for his viewing pleasure. I found this door on Facebook Marketplace for $40!! What a steal! (They’re normally $200 new!) Nick worked his magic and got it cleaned up and put on and this little guy couldn’t have been happier. Ever since he was a little puppy he’s always loved looking outside. He went through many a set of blinds too when he was younger until we learned our lesson. Ha!
P.S. You know you’re a dog mom when you buy things for your house specifically because you know you’re dog will love it…

I’ve been trying to work outside when I can because it helps so much to change up my environment since I work from home. I owe you guys a house update because everything has come along SO much since the last time I brought you up to date on the blog!

I’ll leave you guys with the cutest quote I saw on Instagram the other day! What a great reminder as we work our way through the a new week, right?

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!
Questions for you:
How many snow days do you get each year?
It’s been FOREVER since we’ve had a real snow day. I hope we break that streak here really soon!! Crossing my fingers and toes!
What do you like to eat or drink after you workout? Or do you prefer to wait a little while?
