Where to begin this blog post?…
I should probably start with Happy Labor Day!
😉 I hope you’ve soaked in every last bit of summer today and enjoyed the day off wherever you’re reading from!

I feel like I’ve been sitting on this update post for…well forever now. Every time I think I’ve got a grip on things and my schedule, life throws a good curveball my way and my blog updates and posts seem to disappear. The thing is, though, I LOVE blogging and writing/sharing updates with you! It’s one of my favorite creative outlets and I love being able to look back and see what each season holds. So, here’s hoping with the new month (my FAVORITE month of the year to be exact!), new habits can take hold for good and my blog here won’t keep collecting dust as it has been. Deal?
Let’s dust this thing off a bit, shall we? Is this thing on? [: Immediately clears throat:]
Alright, so as you guys know [if you kept up with my few blog posts over the summer] we spent a few weeks traveling, which was super fun and made for a great new bunch of memories. But, with traveling came plenty of work and catching back up on things with the house.
How’s the house, you ask? Well, glad you asked because…yes, we’re STILL working on it. The good news, though? It’s nearly FINISHED! Can you believe it? I really can’t.
So, what’s been going on there? I’ll give you a quick update: We went through Nick’s busy season with his landscaping business and tried to keep up with as many updates as we could over the past few months. We FINALLY finished the hallway bath which was…HUGE for us. I can’t wait to share the big reveal with you soon. It deserves it’s own blog post update and vlog because it made the biggest transformation of anything we’ve done yet, in any of our houses. You most likely won’t recognize it. Nick is a serious wizard with these things and bathrooms have become his specialty. He’s just the best, and I’m not just being biased. I promise. So, with that project being knocked off our to-do list we’re onto the next bathroom. It’s smaller and so far it’s turning out to be so much easier of a project. We’re currently picking out the flooring tile (these are our two options. I’m leaning towards the lighter color and he’s leaning towards the dark. I’m all for light and airy and he’s more for statements. House divided.) He’s also installing new shower doors and has some additional shower work to do before we can move the new vanity and toilet back into place. So, this one should be done within a week or so. Fingers crossed.
We’re also busy staging too. If there was one task that was at the top of the difficulty list when it comes to flipping houses, it would be staging. I know it doesn’t seem that difficult, but trust me when I tell you–it’s hard. But, fun. Our Target cart was overflowing with pillows the other day and every single last one of them went back to be returned the next day. [This truly is the story of our lives.] If we ever go missing, check the customer service department of either Home Goods, Target, Home Depot or Lowes and you’re sure to find us there buried there under mountains of receipts.
To gather my sanity in between the cracks of house flipping and my social media management/freelancing job(s)–I’ve been sweating running like a mad lady! I mean, anyone who voluntarily chooses to run 26.2 miles and actually pays to do it, is most likely considered “mad” in most people’s eyes…right? Call me crazy, mad or whatever you’d like but running is my saving grace. I’ve been logging shorter distances (up to 5 miles) but never the less challenging and just enough to get my blood flowing most days of the week. I checked out the local race calendar this weekend to see what I could get myself signed up for because it’s been 023837 years since my last race. Okay, that was an exaggeration but it feels like it’s been WAY too long and I’m a huge fan of a good road race with a structured training plan.
Best spot/view to break mid-run.
I’ve got the racing itch because I checked this beauty of a book out at the library a few weeks ago after one of my work sessions (their quiet rooms are my idea of heaven when I need to get into serious focus mode for work). Anyone else ever read this one? It’s SO good and I’m about halfway through so far! EEEEK!
(Shoutout to my fav, Jot & Tittle Designs for the cutest HSTL water bottle!)
Favorite post-run recovery shake^^^. (Chocolate bone broth protein powder, peanut butter, banana, ice, almond milk, and a big handful of mixed greens.) It tastes just like Reese’s peanut butter cup shake and I have one daily.
We’ve been starting off every single morning with a looooong walk and it’s been the best addition to our mornings. We pour our coffee for the day and head out to our favorite spots by the river or in our (hopefully) soon-to-be (cutest ever) neighborhood, Hillcrest!
Yesterday morning won for best sunrise.
And this morning won for best sunny view on the water to wake up to.
(P.S. If you’re new to the blog, you’ll find out real quick that we live right by the Arkansas River and I love every second of it. While it’s no ocean, which is totally #goals, it does the trick and gets us outside daily and I’m overly-obsessed with sunshine and anything that gets me outside.)
Anyone else listening to this non-stop? I know it’s not just me. It’s SOOOOOO good!! I’m not sure when I’ll ever get tired of it. In fact, I’m sure I won’t.
I am also completely obsessed with the massage chairs at Planet Fitness. You guys–they’re amazing!!! If your gym doesn’t offer massage chairs, do you even know if you want to work out there anymore?! Like, let’s be real honest here–they’re a HUGE motivator for me these days to even get to the gym. haha.
I would like to know if you could live off the “Green Machine” smoothies from Whole Foods. Just asking for a friend…ya know.
Oh, and these suncups do the trick for my insanely strong sweet tooth that perks up daily. I like to try all the different chocolate for our girls nights and this one grabbed my attention and totally won me over. I’m a fan.
Joey and Cooper wanted me to be sure to tell you they’re still big fans of their naps, filled with all the snuggles. #thesnuggleisreal
Last update of the day: I’ve been so busy and working behind the scenes with a few of my besties to start our very own true-crime podcast!!
