So without further ado, here are my answers to the questions Mellanee asked!
How long have you been blogging and the story behind your blog’s name?
I have been blogging for about 3 years as of this month! (I can’t believe it’s been that long!) My blog has been ever-changing, but it used to be called “Chelsea Be Healthy”. I was SO excited when I came up with this name as I loved how it flowed right off the tongue, but it also meant so much to me to finally have my blogging dream come to life! I have always been interested and involved in all things health and wellness and basically anything that makes me move! Creating a space on the internet seemed like a no brainer to me and somewhere I could really use as an outlet to reach so many people in a unique way to share my healthy living journey with! Just a few months ago, I decided to change up my blogging title to “Just Me Chelsea B” as I wanted to share a wider range of blog posts including one of my main focuses in my day-to-day of renovating houses with Nick (my boyfriend) along with my running/health and wellness life! So, I figured it would make much more sense to my readers to know when they come to my little corner of the internet that it’s more of a lifestyle blog versus just strictly running/food/health posts! I feel like I have a whole new wide range of topics I can cover with my blogging title and it just fits me best overall! 🙂
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your 15-year old self?
Oh goodness, I would probably tell myself that nothing in life has to be concrete and to truly set my sights on what lights me up on the inside! I think when you’re so young you feel like right this second–things will ALWAYS be the way that they are (as difficult as they may be) or will ALWAYS have this specific feeling tied to it. But, that’s the beauty of life that I’ve learned so far is that we’re constantly changing and evolving every single day and if you just step outside of yourself every so often you can truly appreciate life in a new way. Instead of worrying or stressing, enjoy the young and free moments too! There’s so much to be thankful for, and it’s never to young to find the importance of gratitude on a daily basis!
Do you have pets? Tell us about them!
YES–I am definitely THAT girl who’s a major dog-mom with no shame in my game! 😉 I have 2 sweet fur babies. My oldest pup is Joey, a 13 year old Jack Russell and then my youngest is Cooper, a 10 year old Tibetan Spaniel. They’re spoiled rotten in the best of ways and honestly make me pause each day and appreciate their excitement for the simple things. They’re the sweetest little lazy pups and are loving to every possible person they meet. I LOVE their spirits and I LOVE that they love me just the same no matter my mood, what day it is or how they’re feeling! Dogs are the best and I’ll always be obsessed with every dog I come across. But, mine will always hold such a special place in my heart. I sure hope they plan on living forever because I don’t know what I’d do without them.
How do you practice self-care?
Self-care is SO vital for me. I’m one of those people that desperately needs quiet time and alone time to recharge my batteries in order to be my “best” self. I can easily get so overwhelmed when I let stress take me over and I can feel it all over from head-to-toe. So, I practice self-care on a weekly (if not daily) basis. I of course take time to get in some form of movement each and every day whether it’s running, walking, yoga or anything that makes my body move in one way or another. I also love to slow down with hot epsom salt baths and candles and face masks too! I’ve just come around to dry brushing too to help my lymphatic system flow better as well as brightening my skin so I’ve been loving adding that to my routine each week too! Personal development is also a non-negotiable for me each day! I am always listening to or reading something to help me live my best life!
What topic do you like blogging about most?
Oh, this is a tough one. I honestly LOVE LOVE LOVE blogging about running and all things that encompasses. But, I also truly love sharing our journey through renovating homes. It’s so much fun being able to share both topics because they’re both such huge parts of my life and I love being able to bring others in on what I do on a daily basis all in one place! SO, I’d say just being able to blog in general about these two topics really excites me and makes me keep coming back each week with new posts. Blogging is so much fun in general as it’s so different than just sharing a quick social medial post as it dives deeper in the details, which I absolutely love!
What do you find the most beautiful about life now versus 5 years ago?
My life couldn’t be more different today than it was 5 years ago, in the BEST of ways. I’d actually say the past 5 years have been the biggest learning curve I’ve had so far in life. I’ve been able to learn and change so much as I graduated college and journeyed through my 20’s and I feel like I’m truly focusing on what’s important at the end of the day and valuing the people in my life more than ever. I’ve learned that it’s so beautiful to live your passions out and decide to take charge of how you want to spend your days and WHO you want to spend them with. I’ve also found that we don’t have to live life like everyone else or as others would expect you to either! It’s all about being on your own journey and finding what this life means to you personally! We’re so blessed to get a new day each day and I’ve been focusing so much more on gratitude than ever before! 5 years ago, I would’ve been more likely to just be holding out hope to make it through the next work day which is no fun to me!
What book has made the most positive impact on your life so far?
I’m so so so obsessed with audiobooks and podcasts because I’m a multi-tascker addict as well as personal development LOVER. But, I’d say the book so far that has made the most impact would probably be “You are a Badass” by Jen Sincero. It’s a total game changer and truly makes you start thinking on a whole new level! Mental health has always been something I’ve been passionate about and reading books like this one really do make me pay more attention to my self-talk and how it makes me feel. I’d say it’s a tie between that book as well as “Beautiful Money” by LeAnne Jacobs. Just like Mellanee mentioned, this book came to me at the most perfect time and has helped me change my perspective when it comes to money and what our future holds with it. I’ve always been interested in budgeting/finance and this book helps me see what I’ve been limiting myself to and how I can change my everyday tasks to change gears and actually thrive on my energy that I put towards our finances.
What is the nicest thing someone has said to you in regard to your blog posts?
I’ve had some of the sweetest readers come my way and I couldn’t love each one anymore than I already do! To think that someone pauses their day to come to my blog means everything to me and I really do appreciate each and every comment/reader along the way! But, I’d say the nicest thing someone said to me is that they like to come to my blog to stay inspired to keep on keeping on with their own health and wellness journey. In the beginning of my blogging career, I told myself if I can just make a difference to one person along the way, then I’ve done my job and met my goal! I genuinely find so much joy in sharing my passions with others and can only hope to keep meeting new faces along this blogging journey and knowing that we’re all in this together and can bounce our energy/ideas off of each other to live our healthiest and happiest lives yet is the best thing ever to me!
Describe your fitness regimen (morning, afternoon, evening/cardio, weights, mind/body)
My fitness regimen varies most days, because I like to listen to my body as much as possible. But, the one thing that holds consistent almost daily is running. I feel like it’s my form of therapy as I get to zone out, stop my brain from worry and just focus on each step I’m taking. It always amazes me when I start a run in the worst mood but end in feeling like a new person! It’s the best! It truly is my escape! Each week though, along with my running routine I like to get in yoga a few times a week. (Yoga with Adriene is my favorite on YouTube!) Then, I also have a few programs that I found through Beachbody that really get my heart rate up like T25 which is such a great at-home workout! We also have gym memberships but it’s been just a little while since I’ve been there which will probably change here soon with cooler temperatures moving in. I’m a late afternoon/night worker-outer (Yep, that’s a word ;)) and always have been. For the life of me I just cannot wake up at the crack of dawn for a sweat session! Maybe one day though….There’s just something so awesome to me about feeling like I’m sweating out the day when I get out for a late day workout session.
What is your favorite season of the year and what does this say about your wardrobe?
My favorite season of the year, hands down, is Fall. My favorite month of the year is September because it not only brings Fall in, but also birthday, pretty Autumn color changes, and cool crisp air! Plus, all of my favorite running races take place in the Fall which makes running even more fun than usual! My wardrobe is no doubt more filled with Fall layers than anything else. Well, besides “athleisure” wear. I love hoodies, comfy leggings and fuzzy socks!
Where is one place or ritual that always brings you inspiration and JOY?
I’d say one ritual that brings me inspiration and JOY would have to be getting outside. It’s honestly where I get time (and space) to sort out what’s going on in my brain and brings me my best ideas! Something about being outside in the fresh air and sunshine while moving my body and sweating everything out brings me the best endorphins and makes me happy from the inside out. I love it all!
And that’s a wrap!
Thank you again for this amazing nomination Mellanee, it was so much fun to share my answers!!
