Hey guys! I hope you had an amazing Christmas weekend and were able to celebrate it with those you love! We’ve been Christmas-ing since Saturday and haven’t stopped going since! Hence, the silence around the blog over the past few days! But, I’m back and fully recovered from our very busy holiday weekend of celebrating the Christmas holiday, eating ALL the food, and going from family to family houses for all the different dinners together. Unplugging and being fully present is just good for the soul and leaves me feeling so refreshed which is just what I needed!
In Wednesday Randoms fashion, I wanted to share a few pictures from our Christmas weekend! Oh, and of course we’ve been adding to our flip house progress too! So, I’ve got a few new updates to share there with what we’re working on right now! Just scroll to the bottom of this post to see what we’ve updated this week so far! It’s some serious big updates that were major steps forward for our progress and we’re so glad to start seeing these last big things come together!
We started off with our first Christmas celebrations with my dad and step-mom at my dad’s house in Hot Springs on Saturday night! Then, on Sunday we spent our 2nd Christmas with Nick’s family on Christmas Eve which was an amazing time as always! Somehow I got out of both dinner’s/parties without a single picture! It must have been a really good time spent, obviously! 🙂
Fast forward to Christmas morning and Nick and I started off the day with a very Christmas-y breakfast of cinnamon rolls, coffee and breakfast sandwiches! I think we had enough food for 20 people, but leftovers are not anything you’ll hear me complaining about! 😉
We woke up about 6:30 and got a fire going while breakfast was cooking! Then, the boys got their Santa gift of Pupperoni treats that they just love! I think they love sitting by the fire just as much as we do! They always fall asleep right in front of it and stay cozy and warm!
After we had breakfast and got a few things cleaned up around the house, we headed out to my sister’s house for my family’s Christmas. It was so much fun to get to relax and stay in one place the entire day! We had the BEST dinner of turkey, ham, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, delicious rolls, and pie afterwards! Our contribution was Rice Krispie treats because my 9-year-old niece requested them! I didn’t even grab a picture of the delicious food because we ate it too fast! 🙂 There’s not a lot that can beat Christmas/Thanksgiving dinners. Good thing it’s only once a year though because if we ate that way all the time, I’m pretty sure we would need to be rolled out of the house each day! HA! It’s allllll about balance around the holidays though, right?
My niece got a Hatchimal this year which was entertainment for all of us when it was hatching from it’s little egg home. Seriously, those things are just down right weird/creepy. But, I’m guilty because at her age, I had a Furby which was equally as strange. She sure loved it though!
After dinner, we all played a few rounds of “Spoons”. Instead of using actual spoons though we did have a few games where we played with candy canes to be festive! 🙂 My family has played that game for as long as I can remember and it’s seriously the best game ever with a big group of people! It gets pretty crazy and definitely keeps you on your toes the entire time!
We were fully Christmas-ed out by the end of the night though and completely crashed when we got home! I think after going, going and going for 3 days straight it finally caught up with me that night! We had so much fun though spending time with everyone and are so beyond thankful we got to be surrounded by our favorite people all weekend long!
It didn’t take us a long to get back to work on the house though. Bright and early yesterday morning, we were back at Home Depot getting more supplies for our latest project! The last of the french doors has been installed! (YAY!) Total, we’ve put in 3 different sets of french doors and they’re one of my favorite updates of the entire house. I just think the character they add is priceless!
Nick and my brother-in-law Greg, worked all afternoon yesterday and knocked out that last set of doors super fast! They’re in and just need to be trimmed out to finish up, but already made for a serious transformation! It looks a million times better than before!
I wanted to show you a peek of our new carpet upstairs too! It looks SO much better than the pink carpet that was there before, doesn’t it? We got it installed in just one day which was amazingly fast and helped make us feel like the end is in sight! It’s always crazy to me once some of the last big projects get marked off the list, at just how fast the time goes from the beginning of closing to buy the house to where we’re almost ready to list it! This project was just so needed and helped make the house really feel like it’s near the finish line. It also gave it a really nice home-y feel to it too, which I love!
Nick’s busy working away on the tile flooring in the bathrooms today. It’s going to be really nice once these are in to complete the entire look of the bathrooms. This was one of the bathrooms that had pink carpet in the beginning…..
Meanwhile, I’m busy painting cabinets this morning/afternoon in the other bathrooms!
We’re so excited to have made some serious leaps in progress this week, even with the busy-ness of the holiday weekend! I definitely meant it when I said it’s crunch time on this one, because from here until the end of January–the time is going to fly by for us! Here’s hoping we can keep the momentum going and finish strong on this house so we can move onto the next super soon!
After we get done for the day with working on the house, I’m headed for a run at the gym! I made it to the gym last week for the first time in (I think) 6 months and it felt SO good to be back! With the cold temperatures we’re having this week, I don’t mind one bit heading for the treadmill! I got in 5 miles with some speed intervals last week, so I’ll probably do the same thing today! Half marathon training kicks off next week and I can’t wait!
That’s a wrap for this week’s randoms! I hope you have an amazing rest of your day and I’ll talk to you soon!
