Happy last Wednesday of April! How in the world are we here already? Wasn’t it just the longest month ever, January, two seconds ago?
We’ve officially made it to mid-week, which doesn’t quite mean much right now but it still calls for celebration in my book. Two more days and the weekend will be ours. But, who’s counting, right?
Anyways, today’s post is one of my FAVORITE link-ups! “What’s Up Wednesday” is officially back on the JMCB blog! I’m linking up with on my favorite bloggers in the blogosphere over at Mix & Match Mama for the WUW link party where every last Wednesday of the month, we share what’s going on with us (and plenty of other bloggers from all over) right now. As Shay says “It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.”
Ready? Let’s get to it!
- WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK
So far, we’ve had enchiladas, spaghetti, chicken & rice. We’ve got plans to have tacos, and burgers with a side of air-fried veggies too the rest of the work week. The weekend is still unknown but surely something good will hop onto the menu.
2. WHAT WE’RE REMINISCING ABOUT
All things sports. It’s the weirdest thing not having ANY sports to watch/see/rant about. I mentioned in yesterday’s post how fun it’s been to re-watch a lot of the Olympics over on the Olympic Channel, so that’s definitely something we’ve been reminiscing about. I’ve also found myself going through old vacation photos as the beach is totally calling my name right about now. Remember when we could all go on vacations back in the day? good times…
3. WHAT WE’RE LOVING
While obviously quarantine isn’t the most ideal of situations, we have been loving the slower pace of things. We like not having to necessarily be anywhere at a certain time and just going with the ways of the world right now in terms of places to be and things to do. It’s actually been, dare I say, “nice” to get a slight pause on life. Anyone else feel this way or are we the only weirdos? HA!
4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
Honestly, not a ton has changed for us as Nick is still heading out to work with his landscaping business a few days a week and I’ve been working away with Social Media Marketing as normal, WFH style. So, we spend our days working, obviously eating all the food, and I feel like I’ve been cleaning non-stop. All the laundry, all the dishes, and all the vacuuming has been going down. I’ve also been doing a lot more Pinteresting too dreaming of the days when we move to our “for good” house and planting a Wildflower garden in our backyard. Soon…one day really soon! {Fingers crossed!}
House update: We aren’t buying a new flip house for the foreseeable future with the crazy real estate market, so there’s been a pause put in place for that for now. We’re going to hold on and wait this thing out and see how the tides turn in the next few months then make another move there. (If you’re new to the blog, we renovate houses in Central Arkansas and have been doing so for about …what is it now…7 years? Yes, 7 years in total and we just sold our last one in November of 2019. We’ve been living the non-construction zone living life (we typically live in the flip houses, which is crazy and we 100% realize that) in our cute little Hillcrest bungalow and we’ve been loving every second of it. I’ll be posting a house tour to the blog really soon! Stay tuned!
4. WHAT WE’RE DREADING
I’m 100000% dreading the mosquitos. Here in Arkansas, we skipped over Winter like it was a season that just didn’t exist and it’s going to come back and literally bite us in the butt this year. The gnats have already been going crazy, so mosquitos are next. Not fun. At all. I feel like they’re total joy suckers of warm weather and all of the outdoors things so, if they could just back off (at least 6 feet away at all times) for this year, I’d really appreciate it. Who do you think I can talk to about that? Anyone?
5. WHAT WE’RE WORKING ON
With our gyms being closed we’ve been running so much more, so we’re working on building back up to longer distances runs. I’m doing the “Run Arkansas Virtual Challenge” for the next few weeks (We’re in week #3 now) and the longest challenge run is up to 8 miles. It’s been a really long time since I’ve built up to that distance so I’m excited to see us add on more long runs.
6. WHAT WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT
Vacationing to the my favorite spot, 30A (Seaside, Florida). We usually head south in September so I’m hoping we can make that happen here in the next few months as far as booking goes. I’m wondering if it’ll be super packed because everyone and their mom will be doing the exact same thing. But, at this point, I’m not even sure if I care about that fact. If I can be at the beach, I’ll be a happy girl!
7. WHAT WE’RE WATCHING/READING
So, I’ve had the same library book for almost 3 months now (with it being closed and not taking return books/charging a late fee) which is “Maybe You Should Talk To Someone”. It’s REALLY good and I’m about 5 chapters or so in but for some reason, I just haven’t felt like sitting down and reading the past few weeks. I need to pick it back up again because it’s such a good escape. We’ve been watching Outer Banks on Netflix. It’s a little cheesy but what else do we have to do? We’ve also been really loving “The Last Dance” docuseries on ESPN. Nick is obsessed with Michael Jordan and has been his whole life so it’s been a good show to watch too as it was made REALLY well. So that’s a fun one!
8. WHAT WE’RE LISTENING TO
I’m currently listening to the birds chirp outside my little office nook window. But I’ve been jamming out to Novo Amor on Spotify. It’s super calming and has been my favorite to turn on while I get the cooking and cleaning done around the house.
9. WHAT WE’RE WEARING
All the athleisure wear. Nothing new there. But, I did snag some really cute thrift Nike running shorts last week from Clothes Mentor Online. A girl can’t ever have too many running shorts, right?
10. WHAT WE’RE DOING THIS WEEKEND
Oh this is what I’m REALLY excited about! I’ll be glued to my computer screen Saturday for the Rise X Life Conference with Rachel Hollis! I. can’t. wait.
On Sunday, we’re thinking of heading down to Two Rivers and renting a couple of Kayaks on Sunday if the weather holds out. We’re on the fence on buying our own here soon, so we figure a test run will be a good way to make a solid decision on it.

11. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH
All things outside. Lake time, maybe some normalcy? if we’re lucky, and a few virtual races on my list. I’m also excited to be able to go back to the gym soon. We’ve REALLY been missing it.
12. WHAT ELSE IS NEW?
Well…not much other than what you see here. I feel like maybe next month will be jam-packed with some newness, because life just might be able to resume, so stay tuned!
And that’s a wrap on the first “What’s Up Wednesday” of the year! It feels so good to be back in the swing of things. I hope you have a great Wednesday in your world!
Questions for YOU:
What’s new with you? What are you loving, excited about, doing this weekend…etc?
Are you missing sports at all in your household? What’s your favorite to watch?
What shows have you been binging on lately?
Got any vacations planned for the rest of the year? Where are you headed?
We are really hoping for a Disney/ Universal trip in Sept… not sure how crowded it will be but after scheduling two trips there we’ve had to postpone already this year I am just hoping it works out somehow!!
Oh, I so hope it works out for you!! The travel industry is definitely going to be hurting for a little while with all of these delays and rescheduled. I’m crossing my fingers and toes you guys get your trip in this year!! Have a great day!!
I listed to Maybe You Should Talk to Someone on audible a few months ago on my commute (‘memba when we all used to drive to work lol). It was really good, but toward the end there was a chapter that made me cry, and not just a little bit, I had a big ol’ sobfest driving to work one morning. The latest show that I saw that I really loved was Unorthodox on Netflix and I’m almost done w/the book on Audible. Our favorite vacay spot is Siesta Key in FL but I’m not sure if we’ll go this year, it just seems like everything is so up in the air.
Okay, you’ve totally convinced me to jump back in to my book again! This afternoon/tonight it’s happening! I have to know what happens! 🙂 I haven’t watched Unorthodox just yet but have heard it’s a really good one! And I SO hope you get your vacation in this year!! Fingers crossed we can all get a little getaway in for some break from 2020 at some point or another! Have a great day!!
We’ve been watching old Blue Jays games around here. We REALLY miss baseball and I imagine it’s going to be a very long time before we’re able to take a game in, in person.
We’re right there with ya watching old re-runs too! Fingers crossed they’ll start playing some live games again really really soon!! Have an amazing day, Natasha!
So funny- I’m from Wisconsin but my best childhood friend’s family always went to Seaside every year. The place with all the colorful beachfront homes, right? She used to show me her picturse and she always loved it so much.
I have a huge vacation planned in August that I am steadily losing optimism about…We were supposed to take our boys for their first trip to Europe (Ireland, Paris and Amsterdam) to see my sister who lives in Ireland over spring break for 2 weeks. Of course it got cancelled, so we rescheduled to August, thinking that was PLENTY of time away. (This was before the COVID stuff really ramped up- we had no idea what we were in for). Now, I am starting to highly doubt that we will even be able to go in August and I’m just so disappointed. It was hard enough to reschedule once- I don’t know if we will even be able to move it again. It’s heartbreaking to miss the trip and also a concern about all the $$ we have invested in the trip already. 🙁
Hi Kae!! Yes–30A is definitely the one with all the colorful beach houses. They’re so much fun! I feel like if you’ve been there once you can’t help but fall in love! 🙂
And wow, that trip sounds AMAZING!! That’s definitely on my bucket list for sure. Well, I’ll cross my fingers and toes that you might be able to somehow swing that trip. Of course, if it doesn’t happen it just wasn’t meant to be and an even better time is meant to happen when it finally is booked again!
